Characters with the Masochistic affliction deliberately harm themselves, refuse healing, and otherwise do very bad, dangerous things.
A masochist, for instance, is someone who enjoys pain. If you look up the meanings of the words themselves, though, they're somewhat self-explanatory. If you don't know the actual words, anything that displays the color red is generally bad, and the gamepedia wiki cited in this thread is very well maintained and has complete information on everything. Anything that causes characters to do things not under your control is dangerous, although the ones from Virtuous traits are free moves that are generally actually helpful (although even those can be annoying when they do something like kill an enemy you would have rather left alive for a couple rounds to heal and de-stress).
